PhD school


Founded in 1992 within Lille 1 university and focused on the "Economic, social, development and management sciences", the SESAM PhD school" was extended in 2007 to cover all the universities in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region. It has a doctoral student population of roughly 250, while providing a framework for 11 social sciences research laboratories.


Its disciplinary field covers the economic sciences, sociology and anthropology, management sciences, human and physical geography, the science and technique of physical and sports activities.


This multidisciplinary school's unity is guaranteed thanks to the adjacency of the areas of research, the pooling of methods and a firm tradition of organising doctoral studies.
